Like Thomas Attwood (1783-1856), a democrat, promoting parliamentary reform and opposing the growing mood of centralism at Westminster, George Morran builds on his wealth of experience in local government, continuing his work to ‘bring power to the people’.
Attwood promoted participative decentralised democracy and the strengthening of regional economies. In similar vein, George Morran recently submitted a response on behalf of Localise West Midlands to a House of Commons Select Committee about the Coalition Government’s decision to revoke and abolish Regional Spatial Strategies [RSS].
